Ashton Stoop is a designer, engineer and entrepreneur focused on creating assistive technology, such as prosthetic limbs, orthotic braces, and robotic exoskeletons. The goal of his work is empowering people with mobility impairments to live life without limitations. He spent his early career split between doing biomechanics research in academic labs and building assistive products for startups to large enterprises. In 2022, he started his company ‘Adapt’ which is sparking the revolution of the prosthetics industry. Using advances in 3D printing and machine learning, they are creating high-performance prosthetic limbs with affordable, accessible and scalable systems. Instead of going to the clinic, you walk into a sports store with legs and arms in all colours and styles displayed on the walls, with photos of your favourite models and athletes wearing their prostheses. While Ash always had good experience in designing products, he really began to find success when he shifted his focus to designing systems. When good products meet good systems, the world shakes.
